This month, the Publishing House of the Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU) released the textbook Biblical Hebrew. It was written by Dmytro Tsolin, a professor at UCU and a member of the Academic Board of the Ukrainian Association for Jewish Studies (UAJS).

This nearly 300-page publication combines the features of a reference guide on the grammar and syntax of Biblical Hebrew with practical exercises. Alongside presenting theoretical material, the book contains exercises to help learners grasp grammatical concepts and features a Hebrew–Ukrainian glossary for swiftly looking up words, as well as information on the language’s history and a list of foreign loanwords. Furthermore, it examines one of the most complex aspects of reading Biblical Hebrew texts: the system of accent marks.

This publication will be invaluable to students and lecturers of Biblical Hebrew, as well as those studying related disciplines such as biblical studies, Jewish studies, religious studies and theology.

The UAJS warmly congratulates Professor Tsolin on this important and comprehensive publication!
